For the second time, I accidentally called someone at my work by the wrong name. Instead of calling her by her real name "Marcella", I have this inexplicable tendency to call her "Sharonda." Both of the times this has happened, I'm not entirely sure she heard me call her Sharonda because she always has her earphones on. And when it does happen, like a lightning-quick reflex, I say Marcella right after to hopefully drown out the utterance of "Sharonda."
Seriously does this make me racist or what? Either way, it makes me crack up thinking about it. Where the fuck does "Sharonda" keep coming from? Perhaps because she's a big black MoniqueQueenLatifah of a woman, the name slips because I have this prototypical image in my head of a plus-sized African-American woman named Sharonda. Kinda like how you think of a ghetto black woman, you think "Shaneequa" or "Bonqueesha."
It was so embarrassing though. I hope she didn't hear me call her that.
